One way you could provide your client with the ability to add temporary notices to their website is to create a banner with conditional visibility using the Switch Field within the CMS. Using this method your client can edit the message and choose whether or not to display it on the live site all within the Editor. However, a banner is just one option here and you can get more creative with what elements/components you choose to make conditionally visible with the Switch Field.
My client also wants to be able to change the homepage temporarily to a Coming Soon page. Can this be an option in the Editor with the ability to turn it off in the Designer?
