Preserve “Home” Link Destination When Changing Home Page

Currently, when a Webflow site has links set to “Home,” they properly point to the designated homepage. However, if a new page is later assigned as “Home,” all previous links pointing to “Home” redirect to “Old Home” instead of the new homepage. This behavior creates unnecessary friction and requires manual relinking, which can be time-consuming, error-prone, and frustrating—especially for larger sites with many internal links.

This improvement would benefit all Webflow users, including designers, developers, and businesses, by ensuring that links assigned to “Home” always point to the current homepage, regardless of which page is set as “Home” over time. This would streamline workflows, prevent broken navigation, and align Webflow’s behavior with expected UX norms.

How should it work?

  • When a page is designated as “Home,” all links previously set to “Home” should automatically update to point to the new homepage, rather than staying attached to the old one.

  • The "Home" link type should function as a persistent alias rather than a static link, dynamically updating when a new homepage is set.

  • This should be the default behavior, reducing unnecessary relinking efforts and keeping site navigation seamless.
