Bing IndexNow Text Key File Hosting

It would be great to have a way to host a txt key file at the root for IndexNow. This service will become crucial for everyone moving forward. Bing, Yandex and others already use it and Google is currently trialing it.

The service currently requires that the api key file be hosted at the root of your domain. Trying to do a redirect from root to an alternate host or to the Weblow assets folder doesn't work either as suggested in the forum for files such as ads.txt since the file can't be hosted on an alternate domain or sub-domain than the one you are trying to index.

This missing feature prevents anyone from using a third-party service such as ContentKing, which monitors and submits urls of changed content to IndexNow. ContentKing simply states that the keys are invalid.

Please Webflow. Our site needs this very badly and our other client is pushing us to resolve this!!

Now getting hints from Semrush to set up IndexNow - agree that being able to host the API key for IndexNow would be a useful feature for WebFlow.

Geez—I set up indexnow and got to the step of adding the key.txt file, and Bam! I flattened my face on a hard door! How hard is it to add a setting on the dashboard?

Webflow should consider adding this functionality for IndexNow, especially with a lot of B2B users now defaulting to Bing search engines. Many corporations have managed Windows laptops running Microsoft 365 services with Copilot/ChatGPT integrated Edge Browser, which defaults to Bing.

Also with the new Google Search ruling, Google may soon no longer hold the monopoly for search.

That should'nt be that difficult. I don't understand why it's not moving.

This is a big shortfall and adds extra time having to submit the sites we look after each time we make updates to the content (which is frequently). Is this even on the list to get added to webflow?

No movement on this whatsover? I wish the WF devs would spend a little bit of time with an app like Ahrefs and just address all the little SEO issues in order to improve the site score of a WF site. Getting Indexnow to work would be a great start.

Surprised no one from the Webflow team has tried to gaslight SEO the pros by saying IndexNow doesn't matter

Guys why in the SEO tab you don't add some new text fields like robot.txt?

We need to insert ads.txt too... create a default file or let we create more txt files like robot.txt please.

Huge need now. Webflow would be smart to find a way for us to be able to index so it internally can match the way rankmath does it for wordpress.

IMHO it would seem like a simple thing for them to add some backend code that would upload the entered key to the root directory. That verification key could be entered into a new insertion line on the SEO tab for a given site. If they wanted to go the extra mile, they could have an additional line for URL submission and a button to push to activate an updated indexing.

Definitely a big win if this would be possible. It is becoming the standard, so it would make sense and would be very appreciated if Webflow would make this a priority!
