Nested Collection Lists, formerly called Dynamic List, have many applications, like multi-reference tags within a Collection Lists item or deeper linking/connections between CMS content.
Definitely needed! It's nice to be able to add multiple dynamic lists on the Template page, but what if I want to show referenced lists inside a dynamic list? Example: I show a list of EVENTS, and I have a referenced collection of SPEAKERS. I can't show the referenced SPEAKERS collection inside the EVENTS list. Just an example, but I needed this so many times already!
Yes please! We have had to curb a franchise system or two to be able to use Webflow and this would bring back all the functionality their older sites once had. 100% behind this please!
This has to happen now! How can it not be included when the price is what it is for the CMS hosting?
I see this requirement as an absolutely necessity, especially when you start looking at Multi-Reference items being used Collection entries.
Please. Do this.
This is a definitive must have. There are so many applications where you want to show a list of products/resources, and also show a list of attributes/tags for each one. Today it's just not possible.
Really need this, use-case is a user guide showing ways to use our platform. Similar to "ways to use Asana" https://asana.com/guide/examples where you have a department and then use-cases within the department which link to articles. I have the content structure all setup but can't get this wired up given this limitation.
Webflow is nearly unusable for me without these feature
Any update on this? I basically run into this every time I go to use the CMS...
I also find myself needing this over and over. Right now I am creating a page with a list of counties in Norway, and a list of "places" under each county. I have a "Counties" collection and a "Places" collection, referencing a County. RIght now I guess I have to add all the areas manually and then add an individual collection list under each heading. So each time the client wants to change/move/add a region, they will need me to assist. Also sucks if I want to add a field to the Places collection, and have to make the same change in 20 individual collections on the page. Nested collections would solve this!
Webflow please... Been gone for a year and this and another dealbreaking feature is still pending.
This really is pretty key; has anyone found a temporary workaround?
So needed!! We have multiple use-cases we've had to come up with hacks around and keep discovering more use-cases.
Definitely needed. I am building a prototype of new website for our company and lack of multiple references in nested lists is a big problem right now. Please! Do it! +3
Hurrah! Bringing blog article categories and tags back to the web.
I agree, I have needed this so many times and there is no workaround that gives you this ability.
Dealbreaker, please add!!
This really, really needs to happen. I created a website for a restraunt earlier today and while I was creating the menu I tried to have categories which rendered the items in that category. It didn't work. I had to hardcode each category. Terrible experience.
yes please !!! Nesting Collection Lists inside Collection Lists would simplify so many things !
Is this possible now?
I am creating an online archive of lesson plans for school teachers, where they can log on and download the appropriate lesson plan material. What I need to be able to do is nest lesson plans collection lists inside their appropriate Unit collection list and then those units need to be nested inside their appropriate volume collection list and finally, those volumes need to be nested inside their appropriate curriculum collection list.
Here! Here! Need this :)
Need it so much!
Do we have an update on this? I want to be able to list out a certain reference field and for each of those list out another collection that belongs to that "reference" but it just isn't possible automatically without this feature!
BUMP up please.
I'm happy this is planned. It's probably the biggest hurdle I run into on a day-to-day basis working in Webflow.
Here Is the use case I want to achieve with this feature:
So first of all, it’s a web offers website. Here is the structure:
So it’s all about filtering! all offers are in a collection list with multi-reference lists for areas and cities etc. But actually we’re not able to filter that far.
This is definitely needed!
This is very important.
I have a venue card , and i want to reference another collection list called categories inside this venue collection list, but is impossible. we need this ASAP. if there is someone out there that knows how to deal with this issue, PLEASE HELP!.
This would make things SO much easier. The headache of a workaround I have to currently deal with would be eliminated if this feature existed.
Please do it fast...
BUMP... +1... LIKE... Sigh.
Seriously love the feature set of Webflow, but this is a huge bottleneck that has consistently limited the commercial viability of the platform for YEARS now. Has it been years? Yeah, pretty sure it has.
If there was a way to pre-empt ecommerce or any other initiative with this "Nested Collection" feature, I would cry happy tears. Then I could bottle them, give them to my clients for Christmas presents and apologize for all the time that I couldn't provide this BASIC website functionality. Magically, they would forgive me wholeheartedly for this silly shortcoming after drinking my liquid sadness and frustration.
I desperately want to know more about the status of this beyond "Planning"... When?! AMIRIGHT?!!!
Yes, definitely needed asap!
Would love this.
I was about to post a wishlist item for this.
Allow a Collection List to be filtered based on the value of another Collection list.
For example - In Collection List A, I set my heading to pull the Title field of the Category collection. Collection List B is nested in side a Div in Collection list A. I set my filter to show the Collection Item who's Category matches the dynamic value of the heading from Collection List A.
Please include this soon. Much needed! Thank you :)
Very important feature that will solve a lot of problems and frustrations.
me too - definitely needed asap!
I also would like this.
P.S. Your update notes on some of these items are helpful. Any chance of adding a note to those popular items that currently don't have one?
I just found out that it is not yet possible and I was incredulous. It is a necessary feature or this is not a real CMS.
How about if I say "Pretty please?" 🙃
This absolutely needs to happen! PLEASE WEBFLOW TEAM!!!
This is a must for most blogs and many ecommerce sites. Please make this happen in 2019 please <3
Next! I am am build 2 stores because I know you nail this in Q1. Thanks
This is a feature that webflow desperately needs to add, it is the #1 problem i encounter when building our customers websites.
We need this! +3
I'm very happy to see this in planning. In case anyone needs an urgent solution that will work immediately, I have a slick approach that solves this problem in one-to-many reference situations.
C'mon! Desperately need this on many projects :)
Get this done, Waldo! :)
+1 Definitely a must! And wondering why this is "in planning" since 2 years...
nice one Michael Wells
wow, I getting more and more disappointed by webflow - these essential things missing makes us go back to a custom solution :( I never thought that something like that will be missing - what is the benefit of a cms if you can't even nest a collection
Please add this feature...
Please do this :)
Just an example of why this is so important, especially now with Webflow Ecommerce, I'm trying to create a list of story categories, and sub categories, I have figured out a really tedious way of doing with with CMS and then found out that there is a limit of 20 CMS items per page... so then had to revert to an even more tedious version, adding all store categories and secondary categories manually.... Attached is an example of how far I've got, it's just going to get bigger, and an example of a much larger example. Please implement soon!
Is this feature coming? :( It seems pretty needed. For example, how can you add a multi-select (i.e,. currently using multi-reference) on a collection list?
please add @webflow!!
im literally going to have to switch to another platform if i cant nest collections
Could we please get an admin response to this question guys. I would assume a completely different development team is working on this particular feature. I would love to hear how the process in going. This is becoming more and more of a hinderance all the time. Thanks guys.
Definitely a must have
This feature not being available has meant I have had to turn away three separate clients (value $3000+) and I need this ASAP!
Super important! then we can make products filter based on more than one reference at the same time:
I'm making nasty workaround for this missing feature in most projects I do on Webflow. Everything from showing tags on blog posts to being able to filter lists dynamically using JS and the list goes on.
This is such a headache so I really hope you guys can prioritise it. Even a lightweight start like being able to write the multiple references out in a single text field would be better that nothing.

Found a decent work around using multiple single referenced items and conditional visibility. Each referenced item becomes a pseudo "list item" depending on how you design it - this covers about 90% of my "deal breaker" use cases. Not the most ideal and requires some manual effort, but it gets certain jobs done in the meantime.
I have a feeling a lot of what's going on with visibility based on single reference items is part of the foundation of a full blown nested list solution.
Can't wait, so needed
Super Needed! Can't even make a basic blog archive without it.
This is going to be amazing when they inevitably build out the functionality.
