Lock DOM structure / Navigator hierarchy Allow me to lock an entire page, subtree, or component so that its existing parent/child relationships and element ordering cannot be changed accidentally.
While locked, I should still be able to:
edit styles
edit text/content
change CMS bindings
edit attributes/settings
But I should not be able to drag an element to a new parent, reorder elements, or otherwise change the DOM hierarchy until I explicitly unlock the structure.
This would be especially valuable once a page or component is considered “finished.”
I recently had an accidental mouse movement move a CMS-bound image out of its wrapper. That single unintended DOM change broke image sizing, document flow, and hover behavior across the entire CMS collection. Nothing in the styling was wrong; the DOM structure had silently changed.
Ideally the lock could be applied recursively to an entire subtree or page, rather than requiring every element to be locked individually.
Another basic quality-of-life feature Webflow needs, even if it's not at the top of the list. For example, I'm currently editing text that has an image beneath it in a div and it WILL NOT stop selecting the div instead of the text element, I've had to just constantly hide the div to make edits.
yes please! I use a custom build flexbox row/column grid and would love to be able to lock down certain classes/elements and alleviate the fear of mistakenly changing one thing like flex:vertical to flex:horiz and break my whole site!
It would be great to lock an element - consider how useful this is if your design has layered elements, the work around i use for this is turning off the display for the element.
