Add file attachment (PDF, PPT, etc) field type to the CMS

Now that Webflow implemented the first phase of static file uploads in the Asset Manager, we need to add the ability to upload the new types of non-image assets via the Webflow CMS.

It should be possible for clients to upload/change files/attachments via the Editor interface as well.

    Admin response

Great news: we've shipped this! Now live for all sites with CMS and Business hosting (and sites on staging if you're just trying it out). Read more on our updates page.

Hi all who are interested in this feature!

Part of this has been shipped, but the other part, enabling clients to link to add file attachments via the Editor interface in addition to CMS pages, has not.

If anyone else has clients who really want to be able to add attachments through the editor, there's another request for it specifically with only 14 votes -

Is there a specific reason why this hasn't been implemented yet?

MP3 File upload not supported. this is very much needed as 90% of clients need to open source their sound content Please make this possible in the e-commerce file upload field

Thanks Webflow, it's a start and very welcome news - but can you include it in the static page editor too. Clients have PDF attachments on static page text too not just collections. It's ludicrous to suggest they upload to google drive and link to that (or ask me to do it each time). And also why make the PDF upload on online forms only available on Business Hosting Plan! Crazy. I have a small business client who wants to have an online form with the facility for his web visitors to upload a PDF. Because of this basic need cannot be met, I need to use a different web platform and abandon Webflow for this project because paying the Business Hosting plan for this small client and his small website is far too over priced. Come on webflow!!! why not include these basics in the basic plan, PDF uploads in any form should not be considered an advanced feature !

I was so excited about this—but then I realized mp3s aren't a supported file! Please change this asap.

WOW.  This seems like such a basic feature.  I've never seen another website builder application that didn't include this.  I see this requested since 2016.  I realize feature development needs to be prioritized but this is a major disappointment.

I was super excited when I saw this as a client has been asking for this feature for ages. Then I noticed that its only available on Business Hosting plans?

Is there plans to have more non-image assets than PDF's, zips', Excel's, etc, such as audio files? This is a must have for radio websites, podcast, conferences, churches, etc. I've been waiting for audio CMS upload capability for a long time.

Last admin response over a year ago... A lot of people would really like to see this soon and it'd add a panoply of opportunities for the CMS

Definitely needed - I have a client who's desperate for this in the editor CMS.

    Any updates about this?
I think it is super important to have this feature! Today it is difficult for a customer to attach a pdf to a blog post in the editor or even completely impossible...

I have a 'Document area' page on my clients site that they need to upload new PDFs to via the CMS - looking forward to seeing this feature implemented!

This needs to be taken out of the backlog. Asset Manager for CMS clients is a no-brainer.

Wondering what the status of this is, looks like its been a year since an admin has posted. An update would be nice.

I agree super important feature! My clients wants the ability to download digital business cards (.vcf files) for each of their employees on the team page.

Also the .zip format should be included!

Yeah this is a definite. Having to try to instruct users to go to dropbox or email a team to upload documents, then link them, is a pain.
